Best TIFF 2019 movies and a TV show
This year we have a change of guard, but personally, I have stopped paying as much attention as I used to as the Festival is continuing its march to commercialism. For many Torontonians, a more relevant and authentic moment of triumph was Bianca Andreescu’s win over Serena Williams at the US Open, even though she is from Mississauga.

Toronto European Film Festival 2015
#euff2015 With the recent bad news coming from the heart of Europe (the Paris Attacks), a film festival sponsored by the European Union is a welcome diversion. And Toronto is the perfect host, seeing that this city seems to have at least one film festival going on at any given time.

With all the hype around the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), one can easily get lost in the multi-channel translations and all the foreign movie stars that flirt with the many cameras. And every now and then, the movie goer is treated to an emotionally riveting film, such as En chance til (2014) by Susanne Bier (trailers: dm, yt).

All traffic stopped in Toronto Chinatown–Kensington Market
I was walking South on Augusta, then Kensington Market and St Andrew to Spadina (map). I was just walking out of a store when a police cruiser with the alarm flashing sporadically nearly ran me over. Then, as I made it to Spadina, I noticed they had blocked traffic going North, where I was coming from.
